DAY 3 #STAYCATION

On my 3rd day of staycation I woke up to a chilly and rainy day. So naturally, I did what any self-respecting human would do and I booked myself a 90 minute massage. Now lets get one thing straight, I am by no means a person who does these things on a regular basis. Every time I enter establishments such as these (nail salons, hair salons, etc.), I feel a pang of guilt. That gel mani could pay for my groceries.. or my student loans.. or it could be deposited into my savings account to fund the plans that will hopefully be taking place in my future... but at the end of the day I think we can all agree that sometimes it's best to have someone else do the work while you sit there and relax. So before booking something, I decided to pole the audience (aka the people of Hoboken) and I vigorously searched yelp.com for a nearby location in a decent price range with positive reviews. My findings presented me with Washington Body Work, so off I went. My total came to $80 and I left feeling great. The masseuse I had was incredibly polite and attentive, and she ensured I was comfortable at all times.
Later on in the afternoon I forced myself to do a 4 mile run in an effort to reach my goal of 70 miles for the month of December (I'm now at 69.7), and then I got ready and headed into the city.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the gentleman seated next to me in the above picture, he's been one of my best guy friends since we met in the summer of 2006 at our college orientation before starting our freshman year. We met for dinner at The Smith on 51st and 2nd. As far as the beverages went, I was in the mood for something spicy so I went for their "Angry Apple". It was made with vodka, fresh apple, jalapeño, apple liqueur, and lemon. Chris had their "Touch of Evil" (suiting considering his personality -- kidding, totally kidding), which was a concoction of rye, aperol, grapefruit, and habanero lime syrup. For an appetizer we split the hot potato chips with the bleu cheese fondue. Since I have a tendancy to creep on those eating around me, I spied a delectable looking dish in front of the girl seated next to me. After inquiring with the waitress, I was told it was the Vegetable Bibimbap (sushi rice, shiitake, spinach, pickled carrot, edamame, bean sprouts, and a sunny up egg) with an added side of grilled shrimp. I ordered it and didn't regret my choice for a second. Chris went with their Tuesday night special, the Long Island Duck and he too was more than satisfied. After dinner we went across the street to the Cornerstone Tavern for some beers, set some plans and goals for the upcoming New Year, and eventually parted ways.
I hope your Tuesday was as fun as mine!
