SNAP BACK TO REALITY

Tips for Surviving Tuesday After a Long Weekend:

  • Don’t get five hours of sleep like I did, make sure you get at least seven. Or hell, why not make it eight?

  • HYDRATE.

  • Eat healthy meals. (See below for ideas.)

  • Exercise.

  • Make a playlist.

  • Follow a to-do list. (The Wunderlist app is SUPER convenient because it syncs to your web browser, just saying.)

  • Take a few minutes to converse about your weekend with a friend/coworker. Depending on what you did you might want to choose who this person is wisely... or just leave out the not so glorious details.

  • Appreciate the fact you had off Monday and this means you’re one day closer to Friday!

The first mistake I made this morning was stepping on the scale. Sometimes, ignorance really is bliss. When push comes to shove though, I know I’m secretly grateful because seeing that number really was a huge motivator for the day.

Today’s Healthy Eating Consisted Of…

Breakfast:

  • FAGE 0% Greek Yogurt

  • 1 cup (combined) of cut up pineapple, strawberry & melon

  • 1 medium cup of coffee with a splash of skim milk

Lunch was surprisingly filling. Even though my stomach was essentially expecting a few cocktails and a burger with excessive amounts of cheese (thank you fun weekend), I walked around the block and down 43rd street to Green Symphony, which is one of the few actually both cheaper and healthier options for us Times Square employees, and made myself a platter from their buffet (pictured). In the platter:

  • 1 serving of baked salmon

  • 1/2 cup of roasted cauliflower cooked in apple cider vinegar

  • 1 cup (combined) roasted mushrooms, broccoli, yellow pepper, carrots, and cucumbers (TIP: If you're at a buffet try to choose the smallest container. You'll be less inclined to eat more because an excessive amount of food will not fit. Plus your meal will be giving you the idea that you’ve “filled your plate”.)

I walked 16 blocks to my doctors’ appointment after work and while walking to the subway afterward, I had a Vanilla Almond Crunch Quest Bar.

The gym routine today was:

  • Intervals on the treadmill for 3 miles

  • 10 minutes of intervals on the stairmaster

  • One minute planks, repeated three times

I wasn’t very hungry after my workout but eventually combined and devoured the following in a bowl:

  • 1 Choboni 0% Yogurt

  • ½ cup of blueberries

  • ¼ of pineapple
