EVERY SUMMER HAS ITS OWN STORY

Reading is something I've always enjoyed doing in my spare time. I'm the type of person who always has 29,1092,123 things running through her head and reading has always been one of the few things that has managed to help relax me. It takes my mind to another place and I'm sure many of you can relate. With two parents who were (and still are) avid readers and a brother who was an English major, I suppose it makes sense.
For the past two summers my weekend afternoons have been spent lying in the grass in Pier A Park in Hoboken, in my bikini with my beach towel, an iced coffee, and my Nook. As the summer is winding down and we're all trying to get in the last of that R&R, I thought I'd ask around for some recommended book titles and list them below.
What I'm currently reading:
The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knolls (My roommate and I are fixated on this. She recommended it to me. It has a serious "Gone Girl" vibe so if you enjoyed that one, I'd highly recommend this.)
What my friends have been reading:
Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Dark Places also by Gillian Flynn
Sharp Object another by Gillian Flynn
Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty
What my cousins are reading:
The Woman I Wanted to Be by Diane von Furstenberg
The Stand by Stephen King
What my mother and her book club has been reading:
What She Left Behind by Ellen Marie Wiseman
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein (I read this one too and loved it!)
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell
What my father is reading:
The Martian by Andy Weir (This one is next on my list!)
Other books I've read this summer:
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (I could read this one ten times,)
Columbine by Dave Cullen (This one puts life into perspective. It did give me multiple nightmares but I'm ultimately glad I took the time to read it.)
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown (So inspiring.)
Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
Maybe these lists will inspire you. If not, feel free to submit suggestions through my contact page. I'm not too particular about what I read and I'm always looking to hear more recommendations!
